Since deciding to move to Calgary, one of the areas we’ve had our eyes on is Beltline. It is in the quieter part of downtown, and most of the condos we saw online are within walking distance from the train station.
To avoid a “what I ordered vs what I got” situation, Blake and Tracy decided to spend a few days in the neighbourhood to see if we liked the vibe.
We stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott for a few nights. It was maybe the closest hotel to all the apartments we viewed online. With the Marriott Bon Voy app, booking the hotel was as easy as 1 2 3. Our check-in was done online, and if it wasn’t for a technological glitch with the app, we would have been able to open our doors with our phones, needing no contact with the staff. Not that contact with the delightful staff is a problem.

The hotel is very secure because, like most Marriott hotels, guests can only access floors with their access cards. Our room was a 17th-floor studio with king sized bed and a fantastic view of the city. Had this not been a hotel, it would have been our dream apartment.
Residence Inn also provides the best quality hot breakfast with vegetarian options. Guests also have a choice of indoor or outdoor dining, both with great city views.
Granted, there are many cheaper hotels in Calgary. However, none of them would have given us the experience we got at Residence Inn.
Most of our other dining experiences were within walking distance of the hotel. When we chose to explore other parts of downtown, our free train ride was about a five-minute walk away.
Residence Inn is a 10/10 in terms of value for money. If we were not likely to have our own apartment in its neighbourhood, we would be regular guests at this hotel.
I know where I’ll be staying during my next visit to Calgary!!
