The Okotoks Show and Shine car show on August 17, 2024, was a spectacular celebration of automotive artistry and community spirit. Set against the charming backdrop of the Old Towne, the event felt wonderfully familiar yet exciting. The streets were alive with the hum of engines, the gleam of polished chrome, and the buzz of thousands of spectators enjoying the sunny summer day.
With hundreds of classic, vintage, and custom cars on display, there was no shortage of eye-catching vehicles. Every car told a story, from meticulously restored muscle cars to unique hot rods. Enthusiasts, families, and casual visitors wandered the streets, marvelling at the craftsmanship and passion that brought these vehicles to life.
For us, the highlight of the day was sharing this incredible experience with Tracy’s aunt, who was in town for a visit. Blake’s love for cars runs deep—he grew up working on them alongside his dad and brother, a family tradition that gave him skills and a lifelong passion. In his youth, he even worked professionally as a mechanic, and cars have always been a significant part of his life.

Seeing Blake share that passion with Tracy’s aunt was heartwarming. He walked her through the rows of cars, explaining the intricacies of their designs and the labour of love behind their restoration. Watching them bond over stories, laughter, and shared admiration for the vehicles was a joy.
The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. The Old Towne’s charm added a layer of warmth to the event, with local businesses and vendors joining in to create a festive atmosphere. Beautiful weather, a stunning collection of cars, and a sense of community made this year’s Show and Shine especially memorable.
Events like this remind us of the importance of sharing passions and creating connections. For Blake, it was a chance to celebrate something he loves in the company of family. For all of us, it was a day to appreciate the artistry, history, and joy that cars can bring.
